Vatican

One of the most interesting, mysterious and at the same time the tiniest places on earth is the Vatican city-state.

A dwarf enclave within Rome, associated with Italy. The status of the Vatican in international law is an auxiliary sovereign territory of the Holy See, the residence of the highest spiritual leadership of the Roman Catholic Church. Like Rome, the Vatican is geographically located in the Lazio region, it is the west of the central part of the Apennine Peninsula. It is 20 km from the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea, several hundred meters from the right bank of the Tiber.

The capital of the Vatican is the Vatican itself. Everything is arranged here, on the one hand it is incredibly simple and on the other hand, everything is very complicated. The resident population of the Vatican is predominantly male, although two orders of nuns reside in the Vatican. The minority is the senior Catholic clergy; the remainder are members of religious orders. Many workers and staff at the Vatican Embassy live outside its walls. One hundred percent of the population of this small country are Catholics.

CLIMATE AND WEATHER
The Vatican has the same weather as the city of Rome and is characterized by warm and dry summers and mild winters. Autumn can be very enjoyable. The warmest are July and August, while January is the coldest. Winter can be cold, but temperatures rarely drop below zero. During the summer, the Vatican can often be very hot with temperatures in excess of + 35 ° C, while in winter the average temperature is around + 13 ° C (in December). Heavy rain can be expected at any time of the year, although snow rarely falls. The average temperature in March and April is in the range from +15 to 18 ° C. The temperatures in the Vatican differ from those on the Italian coast, such as during the winter, in the Vatican, slightly lower than on the coast. Close Apennine also affects the climate. The spring and fall months are very pleasant in the Vatican, and then the temperature is moderate, in contrast to the summer heat. The most favorable time for visiting the country is from April to June and from September to November.

The Vatican Library and the collections of the Vatican Museums are of the highest historical, scientific and cultural importance. In 1984, the Vatican was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Vatican is the actual custodian of the Latin language through the papal academy of Latin. Tourism and pilgrimage are an important factor in the daily life of the Vatican.
